Umbrellas
The Pendalex V+ side post umbrella is designed and manufactured by Glatz in Switzerland. The side post design means that there is no centre pole inside the shaded area. Furthermore, a ball-and-socket joint at the apex of the canopy lets you tilt the umbrella any way you like -- from perfectly horizontal, to almost vertical. The canopy can also be rotated up to 360° around the base post. When folded, the umbrella takes up very little space.
The frame comes in white, bronze, silver and anthracite finishes. The canopy is available in the full range of Cover-Tech fabrics. Possible sizes are 8.25', 10', or 11.4' in diameter, or a 9'x8' rectangle. It is available with or without a valance, and can be fitted with a gazebo net to create an insect-free outdoor space.
The largest round size, 11.4', cannot be fitted with a gazebo net and is recommended to be made without a valance. A gas pressure spring is used to make height adjustment smooth and effortless. Different bases allow for installation on a range of substrates: crusiform for concrete slabs (A), deck mount (B), and ground socket (C).
![]() These stationary umbrellas are the biggest of the big, covering up to 600 square feet (the Palazzo M16, for instance, can be up to 27.9' in diameter or 23'x23' square). Cover-Tech carries four different models, all of which are designed and manufactured in Switzerland by Glatz.
The Palazzo M16 is the largest. The Palazzo M8 is only slightly smaller (max. 24.6' diameter or 19.7'x19.7' square), but more flexible in terms of installation. The Castello is smaller still (max. 19.7' diameter, 16.4'x16.4' square), and substantially more affordable while maintaining the same standard of quality. Last but not least, the Ambiente is a giant sidepost umbrella, with a maximum diameter of 16.4', or 13'x13' square.
The canopies can be round, square, or rectangular, and come in the full range of Cover-Tech fabrics. There is also a variety of ways to anchor the umbrellas. The largest sizes require a groud socket that is embedded into a concrete foundation. Most sizes can be anchored with a mounting plate or with textured concrete slabs.
